Annual General Meeting

Sunday, November 23, 2014 @ 2:00pm
The Royal Canadian Legion

Please join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, November 23rd at the Royal Canadian Legion in Aurora beginning at 2pm.

The event will include the following:

- Our year end awards ceremony, which gives us an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of players, coaches, umpires and volunteers from this past season.

- Executive reports, which will include recommendations and discussions around improvements for next season. The merger with the King Township Baseball Association (KTBA) will also be discussed.

- The 2015 Executive will be elected.

As always, everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and add their voices to the discussion. All feedback is appreciated and will help us guide the future direction of the
association and baseball in Aurora.

In addition, as the Aurora Baseball Association is entirely volunteer run, we are always looking for individuals willing to step up and help out with the organization. If you
are interested in getting more involved, please come out and see where you might be able to help. Even if you are not looking for a position on the Executive the AGM is a great
opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback and find out more about the association's needs and what role you might best fit.

We hope to see you there!

Thank you,
Aurora Baseball Association

Major announcement for the 2015 Season

As we complete another successful baseball season, we would like to announce that the Aurora Minor Baseball Association (AMBA) and the King Township Baseball Association (KTBA) are merging!

Many details still need to be worked out including the new name and executive structure, but the merger will be beneficial for all those involved in both associations going forward. The new organization will gain a fresh perspective from the KTBA Executives who have run a successful house league program for many years. Their program currently includes player development which is something that the AMBA has attempted, but has not been able to find someone to run the development program.

The merger will also:

- increase the number of diamonds available for games and practices
- increase the local player pool for Select and Rep teams
- increase the space available for future field expansion
- help address unbalanced team issues from last season

Further details will be sent out via email and posted on the Aurora Baseball website (http://www.aurorabaseball.ca).

Looking forward to a bigger, better more exciting season in 2015!

Questions or concerns can be directed to Allen Wilson (VP) or Matt Giesen (Director of Communications).

Aurora Jays Midget Select Finalists in London

Interesting Team going to London, this age group has not had a Select Team in 3 years.  We put 11 kids together, found some old Select Shirts and took a trip to London Ontario for a Midget Select Tournament.   Not expecting to do much at all, we went to the final game Sunday afternoon,  Sunday morning we played the favourite South West London Team,  and held on to a 2 run lead in the final inning (A 5 pitch bottom of the 7th inning by Paul Bukovec took us to the final game).  Losing to Ajax.....  A great job by a team of dedicated Midget players.......

Over the weekend of July 18-20, the Aurora Jays Mosquito Select Baseball Team took on opponents from across southern Ontario, all vying for the championship title in the West Hill Select Baseball Tournament.

The Jays, a competitive and spirited team, began tournament play as an underdog. In the round-robin play of three games, the team surprised many by winning its division and earning the #1 seed for their semi-final game against the Pickering Red Sox.

In what the Tournament Director called, "the most exciting and well-played game I've watched in the past ten years," the Jays advanced to the championship game by staging a two out, three-run rally in their last at bats. Advancing to the championship game against the Richmond Hill Phoenix, the Jays played hard, but eventually were beaten by the Phoenix.

The team would like to thank the West Hill Baseball Organization for delivering such a competitive and fun tournament.

Aurora Jays Minor Peewee Champs in Brampton

The Aurora Jays Minor Peewee 2002 team are the proud champions of the 2014 Brampton Minor Pee Wee AA tournament by defeating the Thornhill Reds in the final on July 6, 2014.

The Jays rode solid pitching, strong team defense and timely hitting to victory throughout the tournament. The coaching staff is extremely proud that the Aurora boys demonstrated a commitment to the team motto "all game" resulting in consistent performance and ultimately a tournament victory based on strong team play. Although it was a true team victory there was one performance that stood out. Starting pitcher Justin Hicks pitched a complete game 7-0 shutout against Bolton in the semi-finals to propel the team into the finals which was won primarily through a broad based hitting campaign and pitching depth.

The coaching staff, players and parents are all very proud of this character building victory.
